CHARLOTTE, N.C. (Oct. 1, 2010) – Cookies for Kids’ Cancer became the deserving winner of an additional $20,000 grant after earning the most votes in the Jimmie Johnson Foundation Samsung Helmet of Hope for More campaign.
I love my friends and I love my friends friends. We really got the word out and everyone voted and was anxiously awaiting the results. This news brings chills and thrills.
Hello Friends, this foundation is named after the sweetest little girl that is Jonas' age. She and her family have done so much for the SMA community. Let's help them and everyone affected by SMA and vote for the Gwendolyn Strong Foundation.
This year is going to be full of lasts as we look forward to the future. She is still undecided as to where she wants to go to school. Her dad is pushing her towards BYU -I and has several kids in our ward working on her. I think most of the kids in our ward go there. It seems this is all we talk about these days and she is very nervous to make a wrong decision. I am confident, that she will make the right choice for her. She is a smart girl. Off to seminary at 5:30 am. Gunnar saying goodbye to his summer buddy.
Gunnar is doing much better. We had to resort to the cone of shame for a couple of days because he was "licking his wounds". But he is definitely on the mend. We soak his foot after his walk and even though he does not want to do it, he is a good boy and and minds. Unlike others...
Poor Gunnar has gone and hurt himself again! We are not sure exactly what is wrong with his foot but know that it is not broken (sigh of relief). The vet suspects a puncture wound but could not see anything in the x-ray. So, he is on two different types of anti-biotics and pain killers. On top of that we need to soak his foot twice a day. Have you ever tried to make a 100lb dog sit so he will soak his foot for five minutes? Warning...they resist this treatment. In any event, after much cajoling and bribing with Frosty Paws (puppy ice cream) he finally relented. He is so embarrassed he won't even look at the camera. Here I am getting the cold shoulder. LOL! Oh we love our Gunnar!
Kim is a lucky man. This poor guy has had to wear glasses since the third grade. While most of us can get away with normal lasik surgery to improve our vision, Kims eyes were far too bad and he had to have cataract surgery. So, they actually inserted a brand new lens into his eye. He did the left eye first and a week later the right. I am so excited for him.
Kim and I our empty-nesters right now as Rylee is in Utah visiting family and TJ is of course in Virgina. This is what life will be like for us in another year. I guess it is good we like each other. LOL!
At least the kids bedrooms are clean and clutter free right now. ;)
I was thrilled to come home and watch my little brother graduate from the U of U on Thursday. Although it was only a short visit, I was able to spend precious time with the people I love most in the world, my family. I was able to meet my nephew Jonas and my neice Keira for the first time and loved every minute of my time with them.
I was able to watch Megan and McKenzie play ball and Brandon coach. I was proud of all three.
I love that I was able to spend a few hours with my mom on Mothers Day. I love you mom! I am so grateful for all that you have taught me and for the example that you are to me and to my daughter. I love you more than I can put into words.
I want to tell my family how much I love them and thanks for the wonderful time I had with them. Family is everything. May there be no empty seats in heaven.
Rylee and I were lucky enough to visit TJ over her Spring Break. It was a Blast! We got to ride in TJ's little tiny car that could hardly carry our luggage. LOL! Seriously though, Norfolk is lovely and the weather was great and the company the best! We were able to meet TJ's roommate and meet other friends as well. He has quite a nice set up and and even nicer set up once I left. It is a mom thing.
One day we spent at a Naval Museum and aquarium. We learned about real pirates. Not exactly like what we are used to seeing at Disneyland. Then TJ took us to Virgina Beach. Now let me set the stage here. Virgina Beach was rate the number one place in America to raise a family. So, my expectations of what I was going to see were pretty high. They were dashed almost immediately by the stench as soon as we hit the city limits. There was trash everywhere. It was no place I would like to raise a family. So, we got out, walked to the boardwalk. Took a picture (just to show we had been there)and got back into TJ's ity bity car and drove off.
One night we ate Sushi, this was Rylee's first time having real Sushi. Oh sure, she has had a California role and loves those, but raw fish...forget about it. Well, the child loves it. No, she inhaled them. She could use her chopsticks despite us trying to teach her, so she just used her fingers, and her hair and her clothes. Remember, she inhaled the stuff.
It truly was a great visit and I cannot wait to go back again. TJ is really do well and we are very proud of him. He call me yesterday and told me that he received a 100% on a written test. He was the only student in his class to do so. WAY TO GO TEEJ!
TJ just moved off base to his new apartment. "It is so cool!" Leather couch and chair. "Leather"...LOL. Anyway, very cool. No more barracks. No more inspections.
A friend of mine is having a baby in March. So, another friend of mine and I threw her a baby shower. We have been planning it for months. We wanted it to be perfect. So perfect that of course I worked myself into a perfect migraine. Anyway, that aside, I think it was a nice party.
Dorothea and I are also throwing a going away party/missionary shower at my house this weekend. I know, I know... crazy. This is why I am on drugs. LOL! This is also why I have such amazing friends that help me out.
OH!!!! Christine and Sandee....BITE ME!!!!!!! YOU KNOW WHY!!!!!!!!
